Celebrating 40 Years of educational ministry, NCS is driven by a faithful desire to equip students to follow Jesus and serve in his kingdom by grounding them in godly wisdom and love and by training them to excel in a life of learning, leadership, and service.

Through the generosity of many families and friends, NCS now calls 7 Clematis Road in historic Lexington, MA home. With a beautiful sanctuary, flexible learning spaces, and room to explore and play, this peaceful 4.5 acre campus strengthens our Daniel Model and supports an environment where students can thrive.

Brief Overview of NCS

Our History

Our Elementary School was founded in 1985 after members of Covenant Church met for a year-long season of prayer, fasting, study, and discussion about educating their children in God’s ways of wisdom and love. In 1987, we developed our “Daniel Mission Statement” and articulated the school’s "Six Words of Servanthood" (Courage, Humility, Respect, Integrity, Seeker of God, and Teachability). In 2024, thanks to the miraculous generosity of our school community, NCS purchased 7 Clematis Road building in Lexington, MA, where our entire student body can now worship and learn together.

New Covenant School is committed to serving Preschool - Elementary students. Our Preschool Program is for ages 2.9 - 5 and our Elementary Program includes Kindergarten - Grade 5. See our FAQs below for more details.

What is NCS' religious affiliation?

New Covenant School is a non-denominational Christian school, not affiliated with any specific church. Our vision and practices are guided by our Statement of Faith and our Daniel Model, which emphasizes forming students in godly wisdom and love. All staff members are committed followers of Jesus Christ and support our school’s mission with joy and unity.

What are NCS' demographics?

NCS is a close-knit school of 106 students from Preschool through Grade 5. Our families come from many different towns, church traditions, and cultural backgrounds, contributing to a vibrant and welcoming community. Class sizes average 15 students, with assistant teachers supporting the lower grades. Preschool classrooms have two full-time teachers and additional floating support staff to ensure individualized care.

How does NCS support diverse learning needs?

NCS provides individualized support through a dedicated Education Team that includes a Special Educator, Reading Specialists, and experienced teachers. We collaborate closely with families, and offer differentiated instruction, small-group support, and enrichment opportunities as needed to ensure each child thrives academically and spiritually.

What Specials do students participate in?

Students experience a rich rotation of Specials that support creativity, innovation, physical development, and spiritual growth. Specials include:

Do you offer Extended Care?

Yes. We offer the following:

Early Drop-Off (Preschool): 8:00 AM
After School Care (Preschool–Grade 5): Until 5:30 PM. Our After School Care provides supervised play, outdoor time, creative activities, and relaxed end-of-day routines.

What After School Enrichment Programs do you offer?

NCS offers optional After School Enrichment classes throughout the year, providing students with opportunities to explore interests and develop new skills. Enrichment offerings vary by session and have included:

Do you require uniforms?

No, but Elementary Students have a dress code.

Do you have a playground? Do you incorporate outdoor learning?

Yes, our playground is fenced in with a play structure and large sandbox.

Outdoor learning is an essential part of life at NCS. Our campus is adjacent to conservation land, allowing students to enjoy nature walks, hikes, journaling, exploration, and hands-on science activities. We frequently take the classroom outside, care for our student-planted pollinator garden, and prioritize daily outdoor play as an important part of childhood and whole-child education.

How is your school governed?

By an independent Board of Trustees.

How many days do you include Morning Chapel?

Chapel is every morning, 5 days, which includes Preschool - Grade 5. Preschool joins the older grades for worship and goes back to their Preschool classroom for an age-appropriate lesson.

How are the age groups divided?

Acorns - 2.9 to 4

Sprouts - 4 to 5

How many teachers are in a class?

We have at least 2 teachers assigned to each age group.

Does my child need to be potty trained to enter Preschool?

No, we are equipped to care for your child's needs if they are not potty trained.

Do you provide a nap time?

Yes, Preschool students will use a portable cot, with a nap sack and comfort item from home.

Can my child purchase lunch?

Yes, we offer a paid pizza lunch on Wednesdays that can be purchased through your family's FACTS account.

What special classes are available to the Preschool program?

Preschool has designated times in their schedule each week for Music, Physical Education, STEM and Visual Arts. We also offer Enrichment Courses for Preschool during Afterschool Care.

What is a typical day like in Preschool?

8:30am-2:30pm - The morning session is the core of the academic program where children learn through music and movement, creative expression, play and games, stories, exploration of toys, sensory materials, arts. This includes Morning Chapel where Preschool students worship with the Elementary students, followed by an age appropriate Bible lesson in the Preschool classroom. After the morning session children settle in for lunch, a quiet activity and a recuperative rest time. They awake to a snack and indoor/outdoor adventure and discovery activities. and crafts, teacher direction, routines and repetition, in thematic units.

What Elementary grades are provided at NCS?

Kindergarten through Grade 5.

What age does my child have to be to start Kindergarten?

Your child should be 5 by September 1.

What is a typical class size?

Our largest class this past academic year was 15 students.

What extra curricular classes are available to Elementary Students?

Each grade has a designated time each week for Music & Performing Arts, Physical Education, STEM, Digital Literacy, and Visual Arts. Grades 3-5 participate in our annual Invention Convention, led by our STEM Educator, providing an opportunity for 5 groups to advance to the state-wide Massachusetts Invention Convention. Families are offered Enrichment Courses for Elementary students during Afterschool Care as well.

Can my child purchase lunch?

Yes, on Wednesdays, your child can purchase one or two slices of pizza. The proceeds benefit our Grade 5 mission trip.

What is the dress code?

Polo shirts in solid colors without logos, solid color chino/uniform pants or shorts, closed toe shoes that are appropriate for outdoor play. P.E. dress code is a t-shirt provided but the school, navy gym shorts or pants, and athletic sneakers. For $2 (given through PayPal or cash - proceeds benefit 5th Grade Mission Trip), students may participate in "Wearever Wednesdays" and wear non-NCS gym clothes.

What is the 5th Grade Mission Trip?

At the end of the academic school year, 5th Graders have an opportunity to live on mission for God's Kingdom and deepen their relationship with God by traveling to a destination outside of Massachusetts. Students bond together as they practice servant-leadership towards people in need, cultivate spiritual maturity and develop a greater dependency on the Lord. It is a mission trip that 5th Graders look forward to every year!
